To use the steam iron better, more effectively and more safely, users should pay attention to the following four notes.
Water for the iron
Fill the tank at least halfway with water. Most products iron Steam has water level parameters displayed on the outside of the iron, or there are specific instructions inside book instruct. However, half a tank of water is a good general estimate for usage – if no other information is available.
The manufacturer recommends that you use distilled (filtered) water. It’s the best choice! However, it doesn’t hurt if you use tap water when using the product. However, using tap water requires you to spend more effort on cleaning the water, because tap water can contain many types of impurities.
You should pay attention: do not put any fragrance chemicals in the water tank because when exposed to high temperatures, the chemicals will corrode the equipment inside the iron.
Set temperature
Normally, you should set the temperature near maximum. This setting is perfect for most fabrics. However, for synthetic fibers, you should use the lowest setting.
After plugging in the power, leave the temperature button at 0 and wait about 5 minutes for the soleplate of the iron to get hot enough for the water to turn into steam. If you use it immediately, the iron will leak water.
Use an iron
When using, press the iron lightly, with moderate force. You should push in a certain direction, not iron in multiple directions. While pushing the iron, press the steam button so that the steam can spread evenly across the fabric.
If there is any area that is still not as flat as you want, you can do it again a few times, each time about 5-8 seconds apart so as not to harm the fabric surface. You should keep the iron moving continuously.
Clean and preserve the iron
For steam irons, cleaning is extremely necessary. If you use tap water – which usually contains a small amount of minerals – without cleaning it for a long time, they will precipitate, clog the steam vents or stick inside the device, dirtying your clothes. It’s best to empty the water after each use to avoid residue.
After use, you should use a soft cloth to wipe from the handle to the bottom of the iron. Absolutely do not use water to cool the iron. You should use a separate fuse because the steam iron has a high capacity and can blow up the socket and damage other electrical equipment.
