Yen Lap Lake is the largest artificial freshwater lake in Quang Ninh province, started construction in 1978 and completed in 1982. Yen Lap Lake is located in Dai Yen ward, Ha Long city, about 20km south of the city center.

Not only is Yen Lap Lake a beautiful tourist destination, it is also a water reservoir to provide irrigation water for more than 10,000 hectares of agricultural land, helping to regulate water resources and provide water for daily life for the people of Quang Ninh.

Loi Am Pagoda was built in the 15th century on Loi Am Mountain. Visitors often take a boat on Yen Lap Lake to Loi Am Pagoda to worship Buddha and sightsee, so Yen Lap Lake – Loi Am Pagoda has become an attractive tourist destination in Quang Ninh province.

To get to Yen Lap Lake, you will go from Ha Long by car or motorbike, it only takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour to get there. After walking around Yen Lap Lake, you can take a boat on the lake and then go to Loi Am Pagoda.

Loi Am Pagoda was built in the 15th century on Loi Am Mountain. The mountain is very high, much higher than other mountains, on the top there is a spacious square area, without any grass or trees, the ancients said that this place was a chessboard of immortals. On the side of Loi Am Mountain is the pagoda where people often come to worship Buddha every day.

Loi Am Pagoda used to be a very famous scenic spot, and still preserves a number of stone steles recording the times the pagoda was renovated. Although Loi Am Pagoda has now been restored on the old pagoda’s foundation. The relics of the old pagoda are still preserved, notably 14 tomb towers built of green stone and brick, 2 stone pillars, a 2.48m high stone incense tree carved with lotus and chrysanthemum flowers, 5 stone steles with decorative motifs bearing the mark of the Le – Mac period (17th century) and many stone pillars. In addition, around the pagoda there are still ancient muom trees with trunk diameters of more than 1m and many other large trees, making the Buddhist place even more sacred.

Meanwhile, Yen Lap Lake is like a watercolor painting located next to Loi Am Pagoda. Just sitting on a boat and immersing yourself in the scenery of sky, clouds, mountains and water is enough to make you feel much more excited.

In 1997, Yen Lap Lake – Loi Am Pagoda was ranked as a national relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information to preserve and effectively promote the long-term value of the relic.
