Tips to help you take beautiful photos while traveling (Last part: Taking photos)

In the previous sections, we guided readers how to prepare the camera and accompanying accessories, along with how to learn the theories to use them properly. Now will be the steps for you to “take action”, and save beautiful memories with photos taken during the trip.

Take time to be creative

Never “take the shot”. Take time even while you’re holding the camera to be creative, and imagine the scenes. Besides, you should also spend time in your free time to arrange photos, and plan a coordinated, highly artistic photo album.

For example, you can start with photos of pre-trip preparations, luggage photos, and train station photos from a somewhat hasty angle. Then there are the snapshots in the train car filled with anticipation, and finally the colorful photos of the trip.

Play around with angles

Don’t be too rigid with your shooting angle. Be creative with more unique perspectives, in other words, play around with them. Try taking photos from above, taking photos from close to the ground, or taking photos underwater, etc. Creativity will make your photos more vivid and unique.

Don’t be afraid of dark areas

Although light is often compared to “food” for photographers, you should not panic when the sun is about to set. No more sunlight doesn’t mean you have to stop taking photos. On the other hand, this is the ideal time for you to take photos with low shutter speeds, also known as Long exposure photos.

Long exposure photos will retain light for a long time inside the lens, creating a blurry effect, and can also be used to take exposure shots of car lights on the road. To take beautiful photos in low light conditions, use a narrow aperture, from f/12 – f/20.

Take pictures of people

Landscape photos are beautiful, but they can be much more beautiful if there are people in the frame. During the journey, get to know people and politely ask them to take photos with you to add natural beauty to your photos.

It’s no coincidence that people say your odds of finding a guy/girl that suits your personality increase a lot if you bring a camera. If you are single, maybe after a trip, you will have a “bear” if you are friendly and get to know everyone. However, if they say “no”, respect that decision.

Set an alarm

To capture impressive scenes like sunset or sunrise, set an alarm in advance so you don’t miss them. If you’re on vacation with a friend or family member, invite them to take photos with you. Surely you and your loved ones will have memorable memories and impressive photo frames

Return to the same place but at a different time

Same scene, same location, but they can bring many different impressive beautiful photos if you take them at different times of the day. So if you spot a beautiful view, return there at a different time of day. Who knows, you might get a unique and interesting set of photos around that place.

Above all, take photos according to your style, your preferences, and the way you find them beautiful. Don’t try to learn from anyone, or listen to anyone’s advice. Sometimes your stubbornness and personality help create unique, “unlike anyone else” photos, which we wouldn’t be able to get if we just followed all the rules.
