The new underwater camera from the Olympus Tough line may be just a slight upgrade over previous years’ models, but when it comes to underwater cameras, there’s only so much you can do before it starts making it difficult to use underwater. The folks at Olympus know this and the upgrades they’ve made to the Olympus TG-6, while lightweight, are still excellent and worthy of recognition.

Burst mode supports speeds of up to 20 fps for approximately 9 photos, and shooting modes, including underwater, let you shoot raw or JPG photos and enable filters after the fact, right from the camera. Olympus went ahead with the 12MP sensor for the sake of image quality, but you can get a little more by setting the aperture to f/2.8. The camera also includes 4x optical zoom, quick start-up and a shutter speed of around half a second, much better 4K video recording, a 25mm wide angle of view, and an internal stacked zoom lens. If you require a camera a little higher than this one, go for the GoPro Hero 7.

The underwater case protects your SD cards via a double latched door so they don’t open at a bad time. Pro Capture is a great addition, but it only works underwater when shooting with video lights.
