After much speculation and leaked images, Sony has finally officially launched a miniature version of the “super camera” smartphone Xperia Z1, called Xperia Z1 Compact. The product is still equipped with a “huge” camera with a resolution of 20.7 megapixels.
Information about the “Xperia Z1 Mini” version appeared a long time ago and Sony launched the Xperia Z1f smartphone in the Japanese market, which is considered a miniature version of the Xperia Z1. True to the nickname Xperia Z1 Mini, the Xperia Z1 Compact smartphone has an almost unchanged design compared to its “elder” Xperia Z1, except that the device’s screen size has been reduced to 4.3-inches instead of 5-inches as before. Although the resolution of the Xperia Z1 Compact has also been reduced to HD standard 720p (1280×720) instead of Full HD 1080p, but with IPS LCD technology for higher viewing angles and contrast.
The internal configuration of the Xperia Z1 Compact is equivalent to the “elder” Xperia Z1 when the device is equipped with Qualcomm’s 2.2Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM with 16GB storage hard drive, supporting external memory card slot.
Just like the Xperia Z1, the most impressive highlight on the Xperia Z1 Compact is camera. camera with 20.7 megapixel resolution, with G Lens f/2.0 lens and Sony’s latest BIONZ image processor. These are the same technologies that Sony has equipped for the Xperia Z1.
In terms of connectivity, the Xperia Z1 Compact also supports Wifi, Bluetooth, NFC, and 4G LTE connectivity. The device is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 2,300mAh.
Like many other high-end Sony smartphones, the Xperia Z1 Compact is also equipped with waterproof and dustproof features.
One unfortunate thing about the Xperia Z1 Compact is that the device still only operates on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean platform instead of the latest Android 4.4 KitKat platform. Sony also does not have many changes in software and features on its new smartphone.
The product is expected to be available on the market in early February.
