Leffe beer is an elegant, smooth and fruity Belgian abbey style beer. It has a spicy aftertaste with a hint of bitter orange, making it suitable for vegetarians. In the Vietnamese market, Leffe beer offers two types: Leffe Blonde beer (golden beer) and Leffe Brune beer (brown beer).
Recommendation: Beer products are only for people over 18 years old.
1. History of formation and development of Leffe beer
The Leffe Brewery got its start when the Leffe monks of the Premonstratensian Order began growing hops, milling grain and brewing beer at the Abbaye Notre – Dame de Leffe in the Belgian province of Namur during the 13th century. After the flood of the Muese River in 1460 and then a great fire 6 years later, the brewery began to prosper in the 17th century. Leffe Beer is famous for the quality of its beer and the Belgian brewery was expanded and renovated at this time.
During World War I, early Leffe brewing kettles were melted down for ammunition. With the professional assistance of brewer Albert Lootvoet, Leffe brown beer was introduced back in 1952. Interbrew – now AB-InBev – later acquired Lootvoet’s operations in Overijse, Belgium.
Today, AB-InBev produces five top-fermented “monastic” beers under the Leffe brand: golden, swarthy (also known as dark Leffe), Leffe 9°, triple and radieuse (also known as vieille cuvée ). All five of these Leffe beers are now produced at Stella Artois’s much larger facility in Leuven with Abbaye Notre-Dame de Leffe receiving royalties from their sales. Leffe beers are filtered and tend to leave a sweet aftertaste on the palate.
Backed by the market reach of the world’s largest Belgian brewer, Leffe beer is now available in more than 60 countries worldwide. AB-InBev maintains a small museum opposite the monastery that can be visited from April to October each year. Many buildings still exist at the abbey, including the church, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.
2. Flavors and aromas of Leffe beer
Leffe beer is approachable, easy to drink, sure to please many palates with its delicious mouthfeel and overall refined character. Faint aromas and flavors of cloves, white pepper and freshly baked bread rise to the nose and palate, lifted by medium carbonation. A lingering malty sweetness lingers on the taste buds as soon as you swallow the beer.
Leffe beer is also a great choice for Asian takeout, especially dishes with a bit of spice, as the sweetness of the Belgian beer pairs beautifully with the mild heat.
3. Comment on Leffe beer, is it good to drink? How much does it cost?
The only pleasant surprise that the back label of the Leffe beer bottle tells us is that this beer has 6.6% alcohol content. It’s pleasant because that would make it stand out from most cheap draft and bottled beers.
Although this is a perfect aperitif beer, it also tastes delicious with many dishes, especially red meat, sweet and sour dishes and white moldy cheeses, such as Camenbert, Brie, Brillat-Savarin or Saint-Marcellin. There are countless soft-middle cheeses that are perfect for a fresh and fruity Leffe Blond.
Leffe beer not only looks quality but is also a quality drink. So it’s worth trying a bottle of this Belgian beer for yourself.
Leffe beer has a reference price of 720,000 VND / 1 box of Leffe Brune beer (Leffe brown beer) 24 bottles of 330ml concentration 6.5%; or 1 case of Leffe Blonde beer (Leffe yellow beer) 24 bottles of 330ml concentration 6.6%.
