For those of you who have never gone backpacking, besides the feeling of joy, excitement and nervousness, you are probably also a little nervous and don’t know what you need to prepare for your first trip. The truth is, you won’t be able to take your “entire bedroom” with you on the road, so not everything should be brought and not much of everything should be brought. The following personal items will be essential for you on a 3-5 day backpacking trip.
Backpack
When traveling by motorbike, each person will have a partner, so both should discuss how to carry a backpack accordingly. If your trip round trip is only about 400 – 500 km, you can bring a backpack for each person. One backpack will be placed in the front of the vehicle, one backpack will be tied to the back of the vehicle or worn by the person sitting in the back.
However, if you travel a lot and long distances, it is best to use a messenger bag with two compartments, which will be large enough to hold items for both the driver and the hugger. In fact, this is the best carrying tool when backpacking because backpacks usually cannot hold too much and for the person sitting in the back, having to wear or hold the backpack will be very tiring.
Electronics
For electronic items, you should bring a phone, battery charger, camera, and music player.
– The phone needs to be fully charged when traveling and the battery must be “strong” because on the road there is not always a place for you to charge the battery, while communication needs can be very great if you accidentally have one. got lost. Remember to bring a charger, one for each person because if you stop to charge, not everyone can lend you the charger. In addition, you should prepare a headset. When traveling long distances, listening to the phone with headphones will be safer.
– Camera: you should borrow a few really good cameras to be able to take the best pictures. There should also be someone in the group who knows how to take photos. Remember to bring a charger!
– Music player: During long trips like this, both the driver and the passenger can easily fall asleep. So listening to music will also help you stay more alert.
Personal belongings
– Glasses: Going long distances, especially on dusty roads or in harsh weather, driving glasses are extremely important. If you travel both at night and during the day, prepare both day glasses and night glasses. Daytime glasses can be dark glasses, sunglasses, or tinted glasses, while nighttime glasses should be white glasses.
– Gloves: When riding or driving, you should prepare gloves, which can be leather gloves or wool gloves. It’s best to have two pairs so you can change in case of rain or dew.
– Face mask. For the person sitting in front, you should bring a cloth mask because a medical mask will not be able to withstand dust and dirt for a long time. If you go for 3-5 days, you need at least 3-4 masks. For the passenger behind you, you can use any mask you feel comfortable with.
– Shoes:
+ Walking shoes: You should use sports shoes or hiking shoes
+ Plastic slippers: you should bring an extra pair in your backpack to wade in the stream or go to the motel for convenience.
+ Rubber boots: should be brought along in case of rain or having to wade through mud.
+ Nylon boots: to wear outside shoes or inside (as you like) to protect against rain, but they tear quickly so you will need a few pairs for each person.
– Knee and elbow covers (in case you fall, like a football player, you may not need them but having them will be safer and better)
– Scarf: If going on a long trip, prepare a cloth scarf or bandana because a wool scarf will take a long time to dry if it gets wet.
– Clothes:
+Clothing for the road: long and thick clothes to protect against wind, dust and when falling off the bike to prevent injuries due to rubbing hands and feet against the road surface. If you go for about 3-5 days, about 3 sets will be enough
+ Raincoat: You should buy a set of raincoats, both waterproof and windproof, very convenient (Do not buy paper raincoats or bat-wing types, which are split and flutter, very windproof and dangerous).
+ Inner clothes: 1 set per day
+ Clothes to wear to bed: 1 set
+ Sweaters: 2 pieces
+ Windbreaker: 1 piece
+ Earplugs: if it’s cold, this is indispensable.
+ Socks: 3 – 5 pairs to change
– Personal toiletries: You need to bring towels, brushes, soap, shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste, facial cleanser… In general, just bring whatever you need. If you’re afraid there won’t be enough space, you should make a smaller bottle/jar.
Some other necessary items
– First aid bag:
+ Cotton, gauze, bandages, antiseptics, headache and stomachache medicine (berberine), fever reducing tablets (panadol long tablets are very suitable)….
+ 1 bag of salopas, 1 bottle of deepheat to apply to relieve muscle pain when climbing mountains, long distance trips, windy weather, and need a few packets of Arezon (the type for children to drink when having diarrhea) to drink in case of dehydration.

+ Large plastic bag used to wrap backpacks
+ Small and medium sized plastic bags are used to store dirty clothes and trash.
– Some tools such as: knife; drag; flashlight; hair dryer (especially needed, because in addition to being used to dry hair, it is also needed when fog or rain wets things that need to be dried)
– Wet paper, cleaning paper
Food
– Chocolate: provides energy and helps stay alert
– Confectionery: you can eat cakes that have a lot of energy, mint candies to help stay awake…
– Canned food: you can prepare canned meat or some other canned food to take with you.
– Bread. It’s best to buy bread, it’s easy to eat and gives you good energy.
– Drinking water: need filtered water and energy drinks. Each person should bring their own 0.5 liter bottle. In addition, you should buy a thermos to make coffee and take it with you on the go because you will definitely feel sleepy.
