How to make delicious, perfect steamed chicken with garlic beer
After preparing the ingredients, we start making the dish chicken steamed with garlic beer as follows:
3.1. Preliminary processing of ingredients
- The chicken you bought is feathered, washed, and should be rubbed with a little salt or white wine for 10 minutes. This will help make the chicken meat firmer, prevent it from becoming mushy when eaten, and also help disinfect the chicken.

There are 2 ways to marinate here:
- Method 1: If you choose to make steamed chicken, you need a steaming basket, so you should marinate the chicken directly with spices and then sprinkle beer in to steam.
- Method 2: If you choose to make beer-steamed chicken directly without water bath, without steaming, then mix the spices directly into the beer and pot, remember to stir the spices with the beer until they are completely dissolved. Otherwise, the sugar will burn easily.
3.3. Turn on the stove and steam the chicken with beer
- Break the chicken lying flat, put it in the pot of mixed spices and turn on the stove to cook for 20 – 45 minutes.
- Place a heavy object on the pot lid to hold the lid tightly to avoid steam and heat loss in the pot. When steaming, also avoid opening the lid frequently to check. After 10 minutes of steaming, open it once to check to limit heat loss and turn the chicken over to let it cook completely. In case the heat cannot be maintained and the chicken is not cooked, you can add more beer and steam for a few more minutes until the beer-steamed chicken is completely cooked and is no longer red when poked with chopsticks to check.
- After the beer-steamed chicken is cooked, use tongs to turn the chicken back and forth and squeeze the garlic and steaming water to give the chicken a beautiful color. Just keep doing this until the beer dries up and the chicken has a nice slightly charred color.
